My Ex has a new girlfriend 3 weeks after breaking up with me! Can they really be serious?
Visitor's Question from a 31-40 year old FemaleMy ex and I dated for 3 months. (He's 29 and I'm 33). We broke up 3 weeks ago because I found out he was still sleeping with his ex. Four days before we officially called it quits, he met some new girl playing volleyball. She's got a 5 year old daughter and he's never dated anyone with children. He's been out of town this past week, but for the 2 weeks before that, he had continued to see his ex girlfriend and went on a few dates with this new girl. From my best guess, he has seen this new girl NO MORE THAN 4 times in those two weeks because he was still juggling his ex as well. This past week, his ex found out about the new girl and sent her an email telling her to back off. So, my ex dropped his ex cold turkey and is now emailing me to tell me that he's dating someone new and is referring to her as his "girlfriend". They both have a MySpace page and are posting comments about how much they like each other, etc., and they've both changed their status from "single" to "in a relationship."
All throughout our relationship, he told me that it was so impt for him to find his best friend and he wanted to take things slow and develop a friendship first and then see where it went from there. It took us 3 weeks before we even kissed and 1 1/2 months before we ever had sex. He just seems to be moving at lightening speed with this new girl and I'm scared that they're going to get serious (Yes...I'm still hoping we can somehow work things out...but that's beside the point).
First of all...is it safe to assume that if he is referring to her as his "girlfriend" after 2-3 weeks that there is a very good chance that they've already slept together? Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't know many guys our age that will refer to someone as their "girlfriend" unless they're sleeping with them. Do you think this is a rebound relationship? I know usually when relationships start off at lightening speed that they usually die a quick death. Because they haven't really taken the time to get to know each other before becoming intimate...do you think that this will happen? Any other advice or perspective you can offer on this situation would be helpful. I'm really struggling with how quickly I've been replaced and am wondering if this new relationship of his is just a temporary thing or what??
RomanceClass.com AdviceFrom what you have said, there is a good chance that he has slept with her.
It sounds like a rebound, but it may grow to be more. He seems to be unable to stick with one woman. You, his ex, and now the girlfriend.
You have little option but to hang around and see what happens. With a guy like him, no telling what may happen. Remember you are the ex now so he may come back to you.
Good luck! George
