Breaking up with boyfriend of 8 years
Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old FemaleI have been with my boyfriend for the longest time - eight years to be exact.
Everything seem a bed of roses, we were even discussing marriage and future life together. However, one day, he started giving some bad comments about my brother. Feeling displeased, I lectured him, and in his fit of anger, he laid his hands on me and caused me bruises on my hands.
Hence, I chased him out of my house, and told him I don't want to see him ever again. Until today, he did not come back to see me. Whenever we quarrel and he doesn't think it is a big issue, he will end up getting angry at me instead.
Now, I am faced with the issue of break up which started because of a teeny weeny issue. I can't accept the fact that a 8-year relationship is gone because he was non-repentent.

RomanceClass.com AdviceForgive him.
If you tell him you forgive him, he will apologize. This would be a great step toward mending your torn relationship.
Then avoid discussing your brother and other touchy topics. Once you are doing well again, you should be able to discuss whatever you want. But keep this episode in mind and don't repeat it. Make sure he knows that physical assault is forbidden.
Good luck! George
