I left my boyfriend and now I want him back

I split up with my boyfriend of 10 months in April 2004. I left him to be with an ex who I had split up with 4 years before. I had dreamed of being with this man for all this time but didn't believe it could come true. Life was wonderful until one day he just said he was leaving after 2 years together. Now I feel that I gave up a really special relationship to be with someone who turned out to be very cruel and uncaring.
How do I win back my ex boyfriend when he knows I left him for another man? I feel I have made a huge mistake and I am not sure how to begin to win him back. I have spoken to him briefly on 2 occasions and we had lovely conversations both times. He has a new girlfriend but I really want to give our relationship another go

Just lay it on the line.

Tell him you made a mistake and now you want him back. Explain the situation in all its unpleasant details and throw yourself on his mercy.

In doing so, you are trying to split him apart from his current g/f and that isn't a good thing to do, but it is your only hope.
