What choice do I have?
Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old FemaleOkay, so. A month and a half ago, my love interest(one of my best friends) decided to tell me he had feelings for me. It didn't surprise me, considering that I've thought as much, and felt the same for ages. But then, he did something I didn't expect. He broke up with his girlfriend of nearly a year, to be with me. We were together for two euphoric weeks, and then, I wake to a note from him informing me that he loves his ex-girlfriend, and he's terribly sorry for hurting me. Even when he was with her, he told me how he missed being with me. I understood his confusion, so I let it be, though it really hurt, as I still had feelings for him. And then, a week ago, his girlfriend broke up with him, saying she "fell out of love with him." He and I have been talking about getting back together, he told me he needs time, but doesn't understand why I'd want to wait for him. I understand that he's confused, but, what really stymies me, is that he says he needs time, but he doesn't mind cuddling, and even kissing me. It makes me so happy, he wants to be with me, but, should I tell him to back off, until he's sure about wanting to get back together or let this tear me up?
(I apologize for the length)
RomanceClass.com AdviceThe length was perfect so no need for apologies :)
It seems you want him to back off and figure out what he wants. That is a reasonable solution to your quandary. And, it gets you off the emotional
roller-coaster somewhat.
This approach will also clarify his thinking about his relationship with you. If you continue to cuddle and kiss he may get the idea you are his fall back position.
Good luck! George
