How do you tell parents about a girlfriend?
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old MaleI reeaally like this girl, and i know she likes me. We are both 14, about to graduate from 8th grade.
I decided i'm going to ask her out on the last day of school because she said her parents will let her date starting in 9th grade (or the summer before). The problem is, I've never talked about dating with my parents before. They never have told me if they want me to wait for a certain age. I have 2 older siblings, but as far as i know, they have never been in a relationship before (or have never told me about them). My parents do know this girl (we have long been friends) and like her. I just don't know how to bring up the subject of dating, let alone tell them she's my girlfriend. Thanks for the advice.
RomanceClass.com AdviceTell your mom or dad (or both together) that you decided to wait until the end of eighth grade before asking a girl out. And tell them who the girl is and that you hope she says yes. Tell them that her parents told her she could date starting the summer before ninth grade.
Ask if they have an advice for you and hopefully they won't try to stop you from dating. But it is best to be open with them.
Good luck! George
