Sister is jealous of girlfriend
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old MaleI don't know if this is even the right category, but I think I got somewhere close, so I'll start asking.
My situation is somewhat complicated, as my girlfriend was my sisters best friend. Originally me and this said girl were pretty good friends, then we spent a weekend together over the summer and bam everything started happening.
Firstly, I started going out with this girl. But very secretly because my parents would hang me if they found out. Secondly, my sister had been watching a little more closely that I expected, and I had to explain everything to her.
Then comes my problem, my sister starts feeling like this girl is taking her place, or something. (I don't really know because she is fine and dandy to scream at me about it, but won't tell me what exactly the problem is so I've found all this out from her friends) But in my mind, this girl hasn't taken my sisters place. All the girl has done is gone from good friend to girlfriend, that's it. I don't know how she can't get that.
Any idea what I might be able to do to calm my sister down before she starts telling my mom stuff? And once I do calm her down, what can I do to keep her that way?
RomanceClass.com AdviceYes, your sister is jealous of your girlfriend.
Probably for two reasons: first because you are taking your sister's friend away from her and second because your girlfriend is taking you away from your sister.
These are very powerful feelings that can't be helped easily.
Maybe it would be a good idea if you asked your sister to hang out with you and your girlfriend. That way she would feel included instead of excluded.
This will make her be on your side and she won't tell your mother.
Good luck! George
