Difficult breakup

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
My boyfriend and I were together for a year and a half and lived together for 6 monthes. Most of that time we had an wonderful relationship, but he has been dealing with some family issues such as his grandmother dying and his mother going to jail. So, he began to drink a lot and it eventually it ruined our relationship (he crashed my car.)But he has been doing much better since that time and I still love him very much. But my family will never give him another chance! I don't want to have to pick between them. How do handle my family and still follow my heart?

RomanceClass.com Advice
You are caught in a very difficult situation. Trying to keep a boyfriend when yoour family is against him is almost impossible to do.

But, you can try. First, give it some time so your family's feelings can smooth out. Then approach the family member who is most favorable to your side and ask for advice and help. Make sure your boyfriend is on his best behavior during this transition period. If he makes more mistakes, your family will never accept him back. Explain this to him.

You should also be on your best behavior. Don't fight with your family, obey their rules, and do well in school or work. Let them know that you are doing this to convince them that you are serious about your relationship with your boyfriend.

Good luck! George
