what do his hugs mean??

okay so i my ex and i are still pretty good freinds and i wouldnt mind at all if we dated again.
lately hes been giving me these great hugs and its making me start to think he likes me.
he grabs me around the waist and pulls me in close and long and i feel so safe. then he sorta pulls back after 5 seconds and looks at me and im kinda shy so i look away.
he flirts with a lot of girls but he doesnt give them hugs like that so my question is do you think he might wanna get back together? or is he just having fun flirting around,
i know its hard to tell with just a hug but these hugs made me feel as if we were dating again but i dont know, cuz sometimes he'll also ignore me soo.

As you said, it is hard to tell from a hug.

At least you know he finds you attractive because he would be unlikely to flirt with a girl he found unattractive.

Instead of being shy, the next time he hugs you ask him if he wants to go out with you again. He will probably be tongue-tied so you might have to ask him again on another occasion.
