He Likes Someone Else - I'm Chasing Him Anyway

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
So. my best friend, (we'll call B) i have a huge crush on him. He has no clue. even though i always am flirting. His friends tease me like B does.

when i go tell him im ugly. he always says im not, im pretty. but, he likes and is obsessed with this girl (well call H)

i asked him what he would do if i liked him. he said "i wouldn't want to break your heart, but you know how i feel about H." All my friends think me and B would be a cute couple.

what should i do?

RomanceClass.com Advice
It really doesn't matter what your friends thing about "cute couples". That is fine if you are making a postcard - but it has no bearing at all on how you and he feel. He very clearly is interested in someone else. It is a recipe for disaster to obsess about someone whose heart is already taken. You need to widen your field and find someone who is actually available.

As a side note, it is a harmful habit to put yourself down for fun. You shouldn't be going around to people deliberately putting yourself down in the hopes they will contradict you. It not only is bad for your own psyche, but it also puts your friends in a very awkward situation because their choices are

1) be "forced" to compliment you, which gets annoying very quickly, or

2) have to agree, which is not fun either

There are lots of ways to flirt - but PLEASE abandon the habit of pointing out your faults to other people. That is just not good for so many reasons.

Good luck!

Lisa
