Left my Abusive Boyfriend - Now What?

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
I am almost 18 years old and just broke up with my boyfriend a week ago. He treated me like crap and I was finally tired of it. My good friend has liked me for a year (my ex's best friend), and treats me wonderfully and is everything i could want. He's never had a gf before so that's a little odd.

I'm not sure if I want a relationship now with him or for a long time.

Summer is usually where I casually date a few people, nothing serious. The opportunity has come up to casually date two other guys. I am afraid to lose my friend.

His friends keep saying it didn't work before, she's just going to hurt you again (meaning when I dated his friend). I just don't want anything serious and want to have some fun in the summer. Is this wrong? What do I do:(

RomanceClass.com Advice
You definitely should take a break from serious relationships here. Good for you for getting away from an abusive guy. That can be hard to do and you get great kudos for taking that step. You are now on the rebound stage and dating the guy you really like would be potential disaster. Many rebound relationships fail because you are still processing all those old emotions.

So take the summer casually. Relax. Enjoy yourself. Let yourself process all those negative emotions and get fully free of the ex.

Then in the fall when the rebound stage is past, you'll be ready to take on a real, new relationship, and it sounds like that good friend will be there for you.

Good luck!
