Getting to Know Her

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Male
Here's a nice long one for you:) Ok, I'm not usually one to believe in "signs" or what have you, but I think I might have been given one. First off, before I started college this year, I was required to go take these placement tests. The day that I went, there were various people there. One girl in particular I noticed. I just thought she was cute. Then, I saw her for freshman oreintation the weekend before classes started, and one other time before. Then, during the first week of classes, by the 2nd or 3rd day, she comes in saying she was placed into my math class. Now, I've been thinking that maybe I'm destined to know this girl. And so far, it seems like she had/has been looking over at me and she does smile. And now I've talked to her a couple times outside of class. I went to this choir concert one night, not knowing she was in it, and when she came out of one of the pews and walked past me and saw me, she gave me this surprised/happy look. Then the other day, we went into Starbucks, and she was telling me how she loved the smell and taste of their apple cider. So after we parted, I went to Hallmark and bought these little spiced apple tea candles and gave them to her the next day. She seemed to love them and thanked me. I could tell she seemed so touched by that and gave me that look I love girls give-that "awwwww" look. It just warms the heart, what can I say. Now, did I do a good thing by getting her those candles? Like, I think that made some brownie points with me. Now, what should I say or do now?(and yes, I believe in becoming just friends first) I usually have a good sense about people, and she strikes me as a "good" girl who is at heart a hopeless romantic(as am I) So with all that, let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

It sounds like you're doing wonderfully!! You're doing everything just about perfectly. You're getting to know her, showing her you really listen to what she says and care about making her happy. That is SO special, to feel like someone actually pays attention to you and then actively goes out to make you happy!!

If you're already going into Starbucks together, that's great. IF she loves apple cider, then poke around and find a restaurant in the area that has great apple pies. Offer to take her there to see if the apple pies are something she enjoys. Hopefully she'll find them delicious, and even if not, you're still doing well by not only wanting to be with her but also taking the time to find somewhere special that she'd appreciate.
