He's Busy - Now What?
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old FemaleHi, you gave me advice before on the "Should I wait for him?" question. And I was perfectly fine being just friends with him, because I really do care about him. But lately, he's being so distant...we used to talk on a daily basis and have these awesome conversations, but now he'll say a few words to me over the internet maybe once a week. I'd mentioned getting together when we had a week off school, but he never gave me a definite yes or no.
I know it probably has a lot to do with him being busy, but it seems like he could have e-mailed me or something, I've written him once or twice and he doesn't respond. We don't go to school together, so I really never see him unless we plan to get together. During these quick little conversations we have now, I'll ask if I'm bothering him by e-mailing him and everything, but he says I'm not.
I really don't know what to think, I'm just scared we're going to drift apart or something and I don't want to lose my friend. Thank you so much!
RomanceClass.com AdviceLong distance relationships are always challenging, and life does definitely get busy at times. I have a lot of advice here on keeping in touch -

I would work to maintain the friendship just as you would with any other friend. Instead of just saying vaguely "let's do something the week you're off", say something definitely like "Let's meet to see Kill Bill and having Italian food on Wednesday". Send along funny jokes. Give a call to share some news. Don't be pushy - but be friendly. He may just have something he's working on right now and once it's taken care of, he'll have time again to be more responsive.
