Dealing with a Shy Guy
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old FemaleThe guy i like is very shy with girls and hasn't really hung out with them that much. I am very social and outgoing and approached him. I thought he liked me for a little while but he refused to call me on the phone and barely talked online. Does he like me and just can't show it well or should i just forget it?
RomanceClass.com AdviceFirst, good for you for making those steps. There are many, many shy guys out there and the only way you're ever going to get to be friends with them is to be friendly.
He definitely could be very shy and very afraid of making a fool of himself. He may not want to talk on the phone because he has other people at his house listening in, and maybe even people watch over his shoulder while he types things.
Work on the regular talking when you two are somewhere alone. It sounds like he's afraid of an audience and of what he might do wrong. Show him that he can trust you and that he can talk to you without you criticizing him for silly things he says. Hopefully as your friendship grows, he'll learn to trust you more and become more outgoing.
