How to Date a Friend
Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old FemaleI think I've fallen in love with my best friend. I've tried almost everything and anything to ignore this feeling even so that I accepted a job that keeps me away from home 80% of the time. We've been best friends for over five years and you would think I could read his signs, but I just can't!!! We've make-out drunk a couple of times (He doesn't talk about it aftewards and if I bring it up, he just says he was too drunk...) and we spend a lot of time together, he's even uses the "I LOVE YOU" often and in public (He's gotten on a stage with a mic to tell me this, but not on completely sober state). This weekend he has asked me not go on my next business trip so we could spend more time together.
On the other hand, he's always picking up girls every time we hang out and I'm always meeting the flavor of the moment. This is becoming a bit uncomfortable because of my feelings and because all these girls only tell me how much he talks about me to them. Could he be in love with me and like me afraid of talking about it? Or is this confusing behavior something common between best friends? How can I approach the situation? Perhaps, I should drift away from him? We're very open with each other and talk about everything and anything, but I just don't want to put myself on the spot. I've seen many of his "flavors" going through this and they just get discarded like an old pair of shoes.
On the other hand, if I bring the matter to the table I just can get rid off this uncertainty!!! even if it costs me a friendship.
Thanks a million.... this is been killing me for almost a year now.
