my so called best friends all had dates but me

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
About a few weeks ago was prom and my so called best friends all had dates but me. They were talking about what they were gonna do kinda bragging but i wasn't included. I wasn't jealous( I was really happy for them) but I was feeling left out and plus and if it was the other way around I would take them with me even with a date. Anywayz, I got a date @ the last minute and he was cute but I never told my friends anything about what was going on. But when i was @ the prom and they saw my date, it was like they wanted to get with him and asking why i didn't tell them. After the prom they started to act really funny with me. One minute they would be with me then the next they would lie about where they were going and just abandon me. Don't ask me if i wanna come.Then talk behind my back. That is not even cool. I don't know what their problem is but they are losing their best friend.I don't even want to talk to them and they are acting like they are my friends in which i know they're not. I told one of them that i went on a date with him again and she gonna ask what we talked about and what time we came and that is none of her business. When I'm with him, I have fun but when I'm with the two girls they make me feel bad about myself and they are always putting people down and excluding me from. But that's ok because what goes around comes around. Do u think i am overreacting? Please answer my question.Thanks.

I don't think you're overreacting at all. These girls sound like they're very shallow and uncaring. If they were true friends, they wouldn't have treated you so poorly at the prom. True friends are there for each other any time and never make one person feel out of place.

Find some new friends. Ones that are there for you and who will always treat you with the respect and friendship that you deserve.
