We Used to be happy...
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old FemaleWe Used to be happy...
This is my story. I have been going out with my boyfriend for the past 11 months and we are great and everything. But we barely ever get to see eachother since both of us have different things going on in our lives. We talk on the phone though. Our relationship has grown through the months because of the phone. Well now when ever we talk we always seem to get in arguments because we are so different from eachother. I love him to death though and he loves me. We have made a commitment to stay together forever. However he is 18 and i am 15. I haven't experienced as much as he has. He is 3 years older than me and he is in the point of his life where he wants to find a partener in life. I want to be his partner, but i want to experience going out with other people. How am i supposed to know if he is the one if i haven't really searched? i dont know what to do. I see all these guys liking me and i think of my boyfriend and how he would react. I just dont know weather to take a break and figure things out. Our love is fading. not by how much, but by we can't find anything to talk about and it just feels like the sparks are gone and it feels like it is more of a friend whos intamite. I love him and i know i would break his heart if i told him this. But how are we both supposed to be happy when im not. i just dont know. what should i tell him...or am i wrong?
RomanceClass.com AdviceIt's a jump from 15 to 18, and you're right that he's looking for a fulltime relationship while you're looking to date around until you settle down. Both of you are perfectly normal in what you want and it's no one's fault that you're not on the same page. Unfortunately, I don't think that you can continue with him while you are still wanting to experience many guys before you pick one to be with forever. Keep him as a best friend. You've gone through a lot and you can be wonderful for each other as friends, but you're on different paths when it comes to dating.
I wish you the best.
