Boyfriend seeing too much of ex-girlfriend
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old FemaleHi! I am a 20 year old female and have been going out with a 21 year old male for two months. I am a virgin and will remain so until married with one past serious relationship. My boyfriend has had 8 girlfriends, 2 of which have been sexual relationships. He has remained friendly with most of these girls. While I don't mind this at all, I do feel uncomfortable with him still seeing and speaking to his most recent ex-girlfriend. They went out for 2 years and had a sexual relationship. It bothers me very much as I don't think that it is fair to me to make a close friend out of an ex-girlfriend. It is one thing to be friendly with them, but another to call at odd hours, speak for long periods of time and go out places together. At what point does this become wrong?
RomanceClass.com AdviceA good thing to do when jealousy issues arise is to discuss
them in a non-confrontation way with your boyfriend. Is
it possible that he still has feelings for her? If so, you
should discuss that openly. You both need to find someplace
where you are both comfortable with what is happening. If
he has only friendship feelings for her, he should be willing
to respond to reasonable requests from you.
Trust is the key to it all, if you trust him, you will not
mind his relationship with his ex so much as if you didn't trust
him. Consideration of your feelings should be an important
concern to him. Through conversation you two will hopefully
find a balance where you are both happy.
Best of luck,
George
