How to break up

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
I just moved to Kansas City about a year ago...2 months after i moved here i starting dating this guy...we've been together ever since...he's the sweetest guy ever...maybe too sweet..sometimes i feel like ive only stayed wiht him this long b/c he's my only friend and if we break up i have no one (totally shelfish but not nessacarily true)..i want to break up...and i cant do it without crushing him...he was telling me last night how he cant live with out me...it makes me feel horrible..b/c the only real reason i want to break up wiht him is because im not happy in the relationship..he's never done anything wrong to me..he's still a great guy...id rather him be a great friend..but i dont know....this is my first serious relationship..im 19 years old and ive had tons a boyfriends and everyone of those relationships never lasted more that 2 months and here i am in a 1 year relationship...i am his whole life.,..and he was mine at one point..but not anymore...he's catching on i belive...but i just dont know what to do or how to deal with it...i need help

Breaking up is rarely easy, especially when your partner loves you deeply. One thing that will help is to figure out, as best you can, why you want to breaak up. That will be one of the questions you will be asked first. Have an answer ready that does justice to the parts of your relationship that worked but be firm on what didn't work.

Since he is a fine person, be sure to emphasize that fact. And, if you want to continue to be friends, let him know.
