Her space turned into dating someone else

Me and this girl had been hanging out for a few months and had gotten really close, so one night I asked her out and she said yes. Well, a week later she came to me out of no where, everything had been great for both of us, and said that she didn't think a relationship was the best thing for her right now, because of personal problems. So we decided that we would give it a break for a while. I tried to keep up communication but she seemed not to be to interested in staying close. All of our friends said that I should just give her space so she can sort everything out in her life, so I did. Now, three weeks after we broke up, I learned from one of our mutual friends that she was going on a date with another guy. I'm so confused and hurt. Was she lying to me about taking a break? or is she just as confused as I am? I care about her so much and want to be with her, what should I do?

It's hard to say whether she is confused or whether she simply wanted to break things off with you and used personal problems as an excuse. All you can do is to continue to contact her every week or so until she says stop or you get tired of it.
