Hugh crush on coworker

i am 17 and have a huge crush on a coworker who ive heard is about 10 yrs my senior, however he looks like he's in his mid 20's and every single day when i'm talking to my friend who also works w/ me he always comes up and makes small talk directly to me or if he doesnt have time he always smiles sweetly or waves. should i ask him out or would that be unprofessional?
