No Smile

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
Hello, my name is S* I am 17 years old, and I want to talk about a guy I have a crush on in high school. He sits in the very back of the room and I am in the middle. Well since we're always doing work , we can only have time talk usually the last 10 to 15 minutes . The class starts packing up and lining up by the door before the bell rings and as I'm getting my things together, he slowly walks over to my area. He doesn't approach me with a "hi" instead, he starts taking my purse and digging through it or taking other stuff from my desk.
Ok now i'm going to list other things he does:

1.) my friend and I sat in the back of the room when we had a substitute, and he came back their and sat. Then i reached over and put my arm on the desk beside me to tell my friend something, and he was sitting in front of the desk i was leaning my arm on and he turned around and out of no where started rubbing my arm and staring at me with a serious face (not smiling at all). whats up with that ? i would love to know what u think..

2.) ok when my teacher told us we can talk after our test, i turned around and started talking to my friend behind me. Well as you know , my crush sits in the back and when i turn around , i am facing him. well as i'm talking to my friend, you know how your eyes wonder around when your talking? well my eyes were and i was too shy to look at him. But i felt he was staring at me, so i got up the nerve to glance at him and when i did, sure enough his eyes were already on me. so i waved and smiled at him and he nodded his head as if saying "whats up". well when i glanced at him and he was already staring, and after i said hi and stuff, his eyes never moved from my face. he kept staring until I looked away.. without a smile on his face ! (what does that mean?)

this boy never smiles when he stares, he just does the long stares and i just want to know what u thought about everything i wrote and sorry i wrote so much ! email me back ASAP thank you lots !~!!

He shows all the classic signs of liking you except smiling.

He may have grown up in a household where smiling wasn't normal or perhaps the Dad never smiled. That could explain why he doesn't smile. Another reason may be that he is very nervous.

What you can do to help is when you pass him in the hallway or if he comes up to you, look him in the eye, say in a clear voice "Hi" plus his name, then give him a big smile. If he still doesn't smile, ask him in a cheery voice why he won't give you a smile. That in itself should make him smile.
