Christmas present and love

Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Female
My ex and I were together for 2 and a half years. Well he left me and he has a new girlfriend. But in October he comes crawling back to me saying that he can't live without me and that he loves me, etc.. Well a week later he leaves me again for the same girl he had left to come back to me. So the other day I found out he got me a Christmas gift and he got my best friend to bring it to me. I don't understand why he would get me a gift if he has a girlfriend. Is that a sign that he still loves me and wants me back? I didn't think ex's would buy their ex's gifts unless they still loved them.
