RomanceClass.com AdviceSmoking can be a really nasty habit in many ways. It destroys your lungs. It yellows your teeth. It harms your ability to taste food. Etc. etc. So she decided to break up with you because of it.
It sounds like there are some serious problems in your communication in your relationship if she didn't even tell you that was WHY she broke up with you, and if she can't talk to you in person about her feelings now! Why should she be writing you a letter? You guys were DATING. Heck, if you can't talk about something like *smoking* how are you supposed to talk about all of the much more serious things that go on in a relationship?
Sit down with her. Talk to her. If she's nervous, tell her that you care about her enough to make that effort even though its difficult - and that you hope she cares about you enough to give you that same respect.
