Now I'm not sure what I feel for him

my partner and I have a 4 year difference and we dated a while ago but because of a family matter we had to break up. he resently contacted me and told me he still loved me and wanted to try it out again. I said it was ok just to talk as friends but soon i started feeling something more. That was a couple of weeks ago but know im not sure what i feel for him. I thought i would still love him but i dont and i don't know how to tell him withought making me feel bad about crushing him
