We are not compatible at this time in our life
Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Malemy boyfriend and i broke up a couple days ago over the phone. we both did not want it to happen that way so we decided to talk in person last night about everything. our relationship has been struggling. we wanted two different things out of the relationship: he needed more independence while i needed more dependence, some more attention. we concluded that after 8 months of trying off and on we were not compatible at this time in our life. we both have a lot of self discovering to do. so for right now we are on a best friends level. i know things are going to get hard though because even last night it was hard for me not to hug him or kiss him or remember not to call him "babe." it sucked. i know this is for the better but it is really hard. me, him, and our friends are going out for my birthday tomorrow night and i know im bound to want to make a move on him or to hang on him. i know i am going to want to have sex with him but i dont think its a good idea. how do i fight off the feelings when i want it so bad? i know its hard for him too. we are in love. we had something special and now it cant be the same way. i dont know how to handle it if he moves on to someone else or if he even just hooks up with someone else. how do i keep myself from being jealous or hurt? its going to be hard. and is it better not to be friends with benefits? its so hard! i ended up kissing him last night after we talked. i knew i shouldnt have but i could not help it. i think it was hard for him too. it just sucks! what am i to do?
RomanceClass.com AdviceYou are in a fluid situation now and it is hard to know what to do about your feelings.
Be open to whatever develops and be true to your feelings. Be the best friend you can be and see what develops. Go with the flow as much as you can.
Who knows, you might be back together again in a month.
Good luck! George
