I Like one of my Friends

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Male
My problem is that recently I've been having "more than friend" feelings towards one of my friends, and it's starting to become quite awkward, as we're in the same friendship group. I get so jealous when my friend's with other people, it's driving me crazy.

My friend often flirts with me, so this doesn't make it easy to stay away, but I know unless i do it's only going to cause awkwardness. It's driving me crazy though not telling them. Should I tell them how I feel or just carry on as we are? I don't wanna destroy our friendship.

RomanceClass.com Advice
This is really, really common - I have a whole page on going from friend to boyfriend-girlfriend:

It's very normal and it's the way the best relationships start. It means you guys already have fun and talk together and care for and trust each other. So you have the most important foundations for a great relationship.

The trick now is to slide it along to romance slowly, so that there isn't any "destroy the friendship" worry. That it's just more and more close as you go but it still seems like a good thing. So do the normal friend-things of hugging hello and goodbye. Talk about your dreams and fears and share all of your thoughts. That all brings you closer.

Then go to movies that slide more and more towards romance - go to restaurants that are more and more romantic. As your environment changes, the way you interact changes, and soon you'll find that those goodbye hugs are taking more and more time!
