Be Supportive
Guys often spend a lot of time being competitive with each other. Even a guy's friends may not support him much. Listen to his hopes and dreams, and be supportive of them. Help him find ways that they might work, don't just shoot them down as silly. When it's gift-giving time, give him a small gift that shows him you remember those dreams and are encouraging him to go after them.
