I was a big tomboy then and we spent every afternoon together climbing trees and building forts. Since the 3rd grade I had a crush on him, and was sure he had a crush on me too. I remember more than once when I was going to lean over and kiss him but was scared it would ruin our friendship. The summer I was 13 I went to camp. When I came back months later I found out that he and his family had moved away. No one knew where or had any phone numbers. I was heartbroken. But I grew up, had first kisses and boyfriends. But I never forgot him. I thought about him literally everyday, at the vaguest moments like brushing my teeth. My freshman year in college I was online and came across his name. I sent an email and after no response for 2 weeks assumed it was a dead end. Then one day I had a response. He said he had been in our hometown and was knocking on my old house's door everyday for a week looking for me. I flew to see him that weekend. It was love the moment I opened the door. I never thought you could know you would marry someone the instant you saw him, but we told each other months later that we did.
