'this is the perfect woman'Suggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: I believe the way the media (magazines/tv etc.)is today, makes women feel sh*t about the way they 'SHOULD' look, and gives women no choice but to have to be faced with this, day in, day out. It is no wonder soo many women cannot help this jealousy problem!! WHY should the world be this way and why should we have to put up with this is what many women think...no matter how hard they try to block it out of their minds. its not necessarily whilst being involved in a relationship, but about pressure on how they feel they should look so that they 'are'attractive to men, whether in a relationship or not.. i feel this pressure that women have to face and i can honestly say i AM a very attractive 21 yr old female but still feel this horrible pressure. I can see what it is doing to women and what it is doing to our faith & trust in the men we get involved with.. i often think about how this is a very unbalanced world today & there is so much encouragement telling men that 'this is what u should be looking at' or 'this is the perfect woman' and i stongly beleive it is wrong! even womens magazines insist on giving us ways of staying looking beautiful & young and telling us how & what we should look like... do i have a problem,or is this a strong beleif?? Our Suggestion: At least you are attractive. Imagine how unattractive women feel about the media portrayal of "beautiful" women. Imagine how sad the poor feel not to be able to afford the clothes, jewelry, and accessories that the media puts before them. It has also been my experience that very attractive women suffer from the need to be acknowledged for what they are and feel strongly the need to keep up with the "beautiful people." So, I think you have the same problem as many, many others (men included) with media sales efforts. Unfortunately, we are programmed both genetically and socially to respond positively to a well shaped body, regular features, and nice hair. The media knows this and takes advantage of our weakness.
