Not sure what he wants

Do you have some advice for this person?

Well my ex-boyfriend and I are both 18 and we were seriously dating for 3 years, we did everything imaginable together. About 1 month ago hey called me and said that he needed to take a break, well I was fine with him needing space so I said okay. Well the next day he called me back and just wanted to break up. The funny thing is he was so in love with me he wanted to be with me all the time and wanted me to be involved with every activity well at least he never said different. He said he wanted to be friends with me and I was okay with being "friends" but he calls me and comes over all the time wanting to kiss, hug, tells me he loves me etc. When this happens it sorta makes me believe he wants to be with me again but then later that night he will tell me he doesnt. I have noticed that he is despretly trying to date someone with no luck it seems like he tells me things to make me a little jealous I have to say he is a little immature about a lot of stuff. I told him I might need some space and I'm not sure if being friends is the best thing and that sent him into a fit. He cant go a day without talking or being with me he invites me to lots of events and always wants to be affectionate in front of friends/family.I just want to know if maybe he does still want to be with me or what the deal is, this is all very confusing for me and I hope that I explained good enough.

Our Suggestion:
It sounds like he wants the freedom to look around but also wants the security of a close relationship.

In other words he really doesn't know what he wants--immature as you put it.

If you want to keep him, continue to see him whenever he wants and share his life. If you have tired of his games, bid him farewell.
