girlfriend of 5 years wants a break not sure what to doSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: My girlfriend of 5 years wants a break. She is 21 and I am 22. We get along very good most of the time, but everyone has some ups and downs. I asked her why and she said she needs time for herself because of upcoming classes and friends. She also said that she just wnats some time not to worry about someone else since we have been together for 5 years. She is very honest as far as I know and she says this had nothing to do with seeing other guys or anything like that. I do call her maybe a little to often in our relationship and maybe I bug her to much. I feel like shes bored of me but this def isnt a sex issue and when we are together everything seems great. She was quiet on the phone when she told me and I took it hard and tried to push the why questions and no i dont want to do this. After that she sent me some text messages saying everything will be ok and we just need some times to ourselfs and that she loves me. Our realtionship has been going good lately and this is a surpirse to me. She says shes not trying to hurt me she just needs some time.I love her very much, why would she do this to me? I also asked her what kind of time she was looking for and she just said i dont know. I know, well hope she loves me what should I Do? Our Suggestion: I've noticed over and over that women at the age of 21 suddenly want time for themselves to think things over. A good approach is to feel comfortable with her taking the time and expect/hope that she will come back. In your case it seems likely she will come back. Agree to a schedule, like once a week, where you can chat for 15 mins just to see how each other are doing. Good luck! George --Your Friendly Advisors at RomanceClass.com
