Mine - 5 years and his - 12 years. The thing is we are totally opposites. He is not a romantic, curses like a sailor, comes and goes when he pleases, moody, tempered, jealious, and comes across harsh. While I am a southern bell. But together we have a ball. We love each other, Deeply. He says he has a cold heart and is scared that will drive me away. I told him the only way it will work is for him to open up and let me in but he doesn't trust anyone....not even me. How can I get him to open up and let me in. It hurts me to see him so cold and bitter. Our Suggestion: He doesn't sound like good dating material, but since you asked: You need to establish a good relationship with him (starting with a good feeling of friendship). A good relationship includes communication, trust, and affection. Talk with him honestly and openly; build trust by sharing feelings and laughing together; and, show him affection by complimenting him and praising him.
