Visitor's Question:
I was going out with my girlfriend for about 11 months. We hand't seen eachother for almost the whole summer and we got in an argument one night over the phone. She ended up breaking up with me. Usually out break ups took over night to fix and get back together. But this time she told me that she didn't want to get back with me that easy because I would end up doing the same thing again. After about a little more than a month we went back to school. The first day she asked me out. We went out for three days and she ended up breaking up with me because we got in an argument. She ended up telling me that she doesn't want a boyfriend but she hinted that she when she was ready we'd get back together. We were still talking but we kept getting in arhuments because of misunderstandings. One day I got mad and threw a bracelet she gave me on the floor. I guess this meant a lot to her so she started to cry. She left for her class room. After class i was right outside and she ignored me the whole way. She gave me back the ring and the braclet that I gave her. And she's been ignoring me for 4 days straight. I talked to her but she said that I have to earn her trust and everything again. I don't know how to show her that I'm sorry, thats I still care, and that I still love her.

Our Suggestion:
Sounds like one or both of you have bad tempers.

You need to be the one who stops the fighting. Recognize the signs of fighting and try to rise above it. Loud voices, blaming each other, not listening, overtalking, and short biting statements are some signs of an argument.

To regain her trust, share your feelings with her but gently. Tell her you are sorry, that you care, and that you love her. Talk about everyday things so that she feels comfortable, and show her affection (not physical) but tell her she is pretty and dresses nicely.

The big problem is the fighting. If you want to fight--fight against fighting.

Good luck! George
