Meeting after 1.5 yearsSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: We had a really ugly break up in Jan, 2006. We lived together, she left me and I went to pieces, in front of her even. I sent her an email a couple of weeks ago. It read like this: Hey. We're heading to the Derby (in my home town, I took her to meet the folks in '05) next week. Makes me think of you for some reason. Anyway, I'm leaving town for the summer in a couple of weeks. I'd like to see you before I go. Cup of coffee? If not, that's cool. I hope you and your family are doing well. I did not expect a response. Well, here's what I got on Tuesday. Hi! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, finals took over my life for a few weeks! I hope you're doing well and had a riot at the Derby, thought of you over the weekend. I would really like to see you too, coffee sounds great. When do you leave? My schedule for the rest of the week is pretty open, so let me know when a good time for you is. It was really nice to hear from you. I've been out with/ slept with probably twenty women since we broke up. Not one of them has meant a damn thing to me. I'm thinking of meeting her Sunday. Still haven't called her. We haven't really spoken in over a year. Any advice? Our Suggestion: First bit of advice is to take advantage of her good mood and try to change the cup of coffee into a dinner. It sounds like she wants to talk with you. I hope you took my advice the last time you wrote and sought out a professional counsellor to help you. It would do you a world of good in dealing with your loss and grief. But back to the coffee/dinner. You are an excellent salesman and apparantly an experienced Romeo. Your read on how to deal with her is better than mine. It's Friday today so call her now. When you meet, talk about the good times and forget the bad... unless she wants to discuss why she left you. Use your judgement on how much to tell her about your feelings for her. She may be hoping you are over her. Drop a hint that you might be in her area this summer and maybe you could get together then...or just say you want to see her this summer, whatever. Hope this all goes well for you! George --Your Friendly Advisors at RomanceClass.com
