Do you have some advice for this person?

I've been dating X for quite some time and we even have a child together but we have never used the words i love you. He said it through a text message once and I said dont say it over a text and since then it hasn't come up. I don't want to be the first one to say It...i REFUSE even though I love him because I want hear it from HIM and I guess I want to know could he just not love me? What could take so long to say it? I think its long overdue and I'm almost ready to give up out of frustration.

Sounds like he already went first but you refused it because it was a text message.

Now you are at an impasse where neither will say it.

My advice is that it is your turn and you should say it to him personally. You sound very angry about this so you will have to psych yourself to say it honestly and with a truly loving feeling. It isn't fair to him to mix in the anger with a loving statement.

After you say it he may or may not say it back. If he doesn't, have a long gentle, loving conversation about it. Choose a time when you will be alone and have time to talk. This might not be easy, but since you truly love him, you should be able to pull it off. It's never too late.
