Visitor's Question: I recently contacted you, asking whether a boy liked me or not, and you replied that yes, you thought he did, and your advice was simply to ask him. You said that he was almost certain to say yes, and that I could then suggest that we hung out. The problem is, I am extremely shy/useless/hopeless/easily embarrassed by these kinds of things. The matter is not helped by the fact that he is best friends with a lot of the popular kids in school, and I'm not exactly one of those. There are no spare moments to ask him, even if i was confident, but I can just imagine him saying no, whether that would be truthfully or not, and then telling the popular kids that I asked him that, and then I would be the laughing stock of my school year for ages and ages. I dont know how to go about this situation at all. As I mentioned, I am very shy, and I'm so confused!!! Our Suggestion: Seems there is a lot of shyness going around.. perhaps it is infectious. See if you can find out his phone number or computer address. Then you can talk to him without the extreme shyness that face-to-face communication can bring about. BTW, you would not be a laughingstock. Most people would admire your courage and the rest of them will not care one hoot. Shy people think that people are concerned about them. Not true. Everyone meets a hundred people a day (even passing in the hall.) 99% of them don't notice you. You can get positive attention by smiling and saying hello to people you encounter... especially this boy you are interested in. Smile, smile, smile. It will make you feel good and good about yourself and it will make other people feel good about themselves and good about you. What could be better? Good luck!
