Help with Girl at work

Visitor's Question:
Hi,
I've played many scenarios into my head of all the different possibilities that can happen.
First off, I want to give you some info on the way I am. I'm 20 years old and work at HD on Saturdays and Sundays. I tend to be the typical male dog that when I see a decent looking female I'm already imagining how that ride would be. I am for the most part a very straight to the point, blunt individual at-least with those that I know. While I can be harsh at times I don't take things to the extreme.
Moreover to the point. I met this girl a fellow co-worker and at first saw her as any other decent looking girl, but she was of the quiet type. You know the ones that are undercover freaks or reserved and maybe even innocent.
It seems that she is one of the few girls that are worth looking into.
She has a boy-friend. Has been with him for like 5 or 6 months. But I always feel there is a connection between us. I see her she smiles I actually gather a smile even though I'm working.
I've been repeatedly reminded by others that she has a boyfriend and one girl who claims to be her best friend (the girl is missing some screws=not so credible)said that she is in love with her boyfriend.
Of-course you know that completely sinks my boat. She already knew I liked her because I intentionally make it so obvious, but she has had it confirmed from one of her friends that has asked me (not the one with a hollow skull). I approached her and in my very nervous form of communication let her know it was true. That day she was much more attentive and even defended me from the teasing of others. We then spoke and I told her that I had gathered from my information the conclusion that she was very into her b/f and that however much I wanted to fight for her I was going to just forget about her and asked her what she thought about that. She smiled, looked at me thinking whatever girls think and then told me "you never know what can happen".
I know there is something there but how should I proceed? Do I ask her out even though she has a b/f? Wait it out a little longer? Ask her directly what will happen or how she feels?
I'm sorry I made the question kinda long but this is one of the few times I really like a girl for her and not just her body. LOL I mean I'm writing to you hoping for a hint on what to do. I never would have thought I would be so vulnerable.
Many thanks

Our Suggestion:
There are two viewpoints on this subject.

One is that existing relationships are off-limits. So according to this viewpoint, you should move on.

Another viewpoint is the "all's fair in love and war."

I usually support the first. However, in this case you approached her and she opened the door. So, you have nothing to lose by asking her out on a date.

Good luck! George
