Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I am the one who previously wrote to you asking that his birthday is coming and what shall i do? I asked whether i shall chip in money with our(mine and his) friends to get him a gift or shall i get him something separately and you adviced me of buying him something separately. I therefore bought him a dog tag but like I was ignoring him all this time and since like it is his birthday on saturday so I decided to give him the gift today since like I am not going to see him tomorrow because we going in half term. So today after the lesson i asked him to wait for me because I got to talk to him and he smiled he goes yea of course im going to wait outside. I was like okay since I am not going out tomorrow i don't know when i'll see you so just in case i don't see you tomorrow here you go...Happy 17th birthday and he opened his arms so like i can hug him and then i kissed him on 1 cheek telling him to have fun and then the over cheek telling him to enjoy at his birthday. Then i gave him the card and the dog tag. OH MY GOD!!! that was the best thing ever. He went red he didn't know what to do. He couldn't find no words to say to me. He was like my brain is not working. All i can say is thank you thank you sooooo much and then he opened the gift and read the card and i wrote some funny stuff in it which crakd him up like proper. Then he hugged me again like really really tight. He wouldn't let go. I had to like talk 2 him and like letting go lol. Then he goes he really didn't expect that. His eyes and cheeks went red. He kept smiling and laughing for this whole time we were talking. He goes i still can't believe this I am really sorry for everything i don't know what to say and i was like its your birthday and i had to get you something and you don't have to say anything. He hugged me agen and while hugging me he whispered in my ear saying thanksssssssss a lot i am really sorry and he kissed me on my neck and i was shocked because it was all of a sudden. I don't think he even knew he did that, he was just sooooooo happy and he was surprised and stuff. He wouldn't let go he kept hugging me and i had to let go and i said bye take care have fun then he went. It was just like before. That whole thing was just about 20 minutes but we laughed a lot and it felt like when we were together. And when he whispered in ma ear he said something about after half term but i didn't hear him properly. I am really happy. So what do you think about his overall reaction? And why did he kiss me on my neck? And hug me really tight like hes been missing me a lot and not letting go?

Our Suggestion:
He was overcome by emotion.

He seems to have been holding feelings back. I think you're right that he missed you and kissed you on the neck and held you tight.

See if you can find out what he said about half term so there is no misunderstanding. Hopefully he will make the next move and ask you to do something with him like a movie.
