Teacher/Student RelationshipsSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: Okay, this may sound weird, but bear with me please. So I Like my teacher. ALOT. And the weird thing is that sometimes I get the feeling he likes me back. He is married with no kids. I also get the feeling his marriage isn't doing so great. I don't know how to explain it well, but I get these feelings and they usually are right. He doesn't wear a wedding ring, but that could just be some other thing. He takes these martial art classes out side of school, and he invited me. Apparently he invites everyone though. But as it is I went to the classes and now I enjoy them very much. He is a very nice person and I have never heard anything bad about him. He had never touched me in a suggestive way. So I guess my quetions are. Would it be wrong to have a relatioship with him? and How do I let him know I like him without embarassing myself. Im just afraid I will tell him, and he won't feel the same way and tell my mom or something. I really like being around him, and don't want to make this akward. I just turned 17 and he is around his late 30's. hope this is enough information for you. Our Suggestion: First, your feelings for him are not unusual in a teacher/student setting. But, if he likes you too and you act our your feelings in a physical way he is sure to be fired and may go to jail. So I hope that's not what you meant by having a relationship. Are you sure he is still asking other kids to do martial arts or is it just you now? If it's just you then you should absolutely stop it now. There is no place for a student/teacher relationship. He is using very poor judgement in making plans with students after school hours. I'm sure you didn't want to hear all of this, but it's the truth. What you should really do is to talk to your mother about it. But she could make a big deal about it and get him in trouble. So you are going to have to break it off yourself. You are probably excited thinking about him and the possibilities, but don't get yourself and the rest of the world in trouble over this. --Your Friendly Advisors at RomanceClass.com
