I want my guy back!

Suggest Advice

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I was in a situation with a guy last term, and we really liked eachother and pulled and everything, but because he lives so far away, we decided to pick up where we left off at the beginning of this term. HOWEVER, during the summer, i text him saying "Do you think we are still going to be together?" and he said, "to be honest no, but i still wouldnt mind going with the flow when we get back to school" so i, thinkin he didnt want to be together, told him i couldnt do that.

At the beginning of this term, (last friday) we were having eye contact, and i realised i wanted to be with him, so i text him telling him i still liked him, but he thought when i said "are we still gonna be together" that i meant during the summer, so the whole thing was a big misunderstanding, and he really liked me and thought about me all summer!

ah!BUT because he thought i wasnt interested, has started to like some one else, so i text him sayin basically u know, just be happy etc, and he said "thanks, ur amazing...."

i really like him, and i know he really liked me!!! he hasnt liked this girl for even a week yet, and i want him back!!

Any advice u can give me on tryin to win him back, or how u reckon he feels, would be greatly appreciated!!!

Our Suggestion:
OK this is a pretty clear example of why NEVER TO RELY ON TEXT MESSAGES. I can't tell you how many times this sort of thing has happened where people royally screw up their lives because they didn't quite interpret properly something they got on a text message or email message. You always should talk face to face!! The potential for disaster when relying on little letters is HUGE.

So stop texting this guy to figure out how to handle things!! Go talk to him IN PERSON. Take him out to dinner. Sit and talk with him. I really bet that if you guys start going out - just as friends - that the old relationship will kindle right back up again and you'll end up together. But if you just rely on text because it's "easier" - things will probably fail. A relationship is about WORKING on things. If you go with the easy way out - it won't be a relationship for long.
