She's Drawing Apart

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
my girlfriend and i have been going out for almost a year. this is our very first relationship with anyone. lately though in the past month i'd say she has stoped wanting to come over and never returns my call or email.

we have been having little arguments over silly things and this is an everyday occurence. she said her mom wants her to break up with me but she says she still loves me yet we have petty fights.

i am wondering if she is playing mind games with me and just trying to find a good enough reason to break up with me due to the fact that she knows she is saying things that will make me mad so she doesnt have to explain her real reason why she wants to dump me. this past week has been horrible because we have not talk outside of school since tuesday and she wont return my call or email. what is wrong?

Our Suggestion:
If you ask why most couples get divorced, it's because "we drifted apart". Communication is KEY in any relationship and the more you talk, the stronger you become. So the fact that she is refusing to talk to you and arguing with you over little things is a really bad sign.

Something is obviously bothering her a lot but she's not willing to talk about it. You have to GET her to talk about it because that is what a relationship is all about. It's not just about having fun during the good times. It's about being honest even when it's hard, and talking about things even when they're tough to talk about. It's something vital to learn how to do if you want ANY relationship to work.

So sit down with her, say that you know it's hard but that you two have to talk about what's bothering her if there is going to be any chance of making things better. And then let her talk, and listen, and see if you can find solutions together.
