How come he broke up with me but says he still likes me? Our Suggestion: Breaking up is a complicated thing. People break up for all sorts of reasons - even when they like each other. For example, a couple going from high school to college may break up because one is in college in California and the other is in college in Florida. They may still like each other - but they know it just won't work for them to try to maintain the relationship long distance. In your case, he was busy and probably stressed. So he made a decision based on that stress. He didn't break up because he hated you. He broke up because there was too much for him to handle. But once he was apart from you, he realized just how much you meant to him. Probably he realized that your presence was actually helping him manage his stress. He hadn't realized that before.
