Our Suggestion: Of COURSE you can break up with him! You can't use him like a toy, and push and prod him until he does what you want him to, because you're too afraid to do it yourself! Part of being responsible enough to be *in* a relationship is being responsible enough to handle that relationship. You don't want to be with him any more. You are no longer 'working as a team' with him. He DESERVES to find someone who will, instead of you dragging your feet and not being his partner. And not only that, now you want to antagonize him so much that he wants to leave? That's really, really unfair. Sit down with him and have a talk. Be open and honest.
