Power Struggles in Middle SchoolSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: I am 13 The guy I like is 13 too. So there's no age difference. My friend that used to be my best friend is popular. I don't want to be mean but my friend is worse looking than I am, but she is is one of the two most popular girls in school. How do I get the guy I like to like me instead of my friend? Our Suggestion: What is this obsession with how good looking someone is? I think you have fallen victim to the MTV message. Just what does how you look at this moment in time have to do with anything? Girls that are pretty at 13 turn GORGEOUS at 15. Girls that are really pretty at 13 turn boring looking at 15. Just because you claim you're prettier than her at this moment in time, does this somehow mean you are better than her? The last possible thing that matters in the long term is what your face or body looks at at any given moment in time. Bodies change. Face change. Hair changes. To feel superior just because you are "better" somehow at any given month is really not healthy. The things that last about a person are their caring and friendship - not how their face or body looks. If a guy likes her, he is a REAL guy that sees past these silly momentary things like "whose hair is better". So you have to ask yourself if YOU can be a real friend to him, someone that cares about more than dress styles. It's a time for you to consider what really is important in life, and what people really care about in a relationship. --Your Friendly Advisors at RomanceClass.com
