They're not comfortable talking on the phone. Heck, phones have only been around for 100 years or so, for thousands of years before that nobody had to deal with phones. They all had relationships without any trouble! So don't fret about the phone. Use it to touch base. Maybe write letters to each other in the old fashioned snail mail and send them to each other. And spend a lot of time with each other.
