Visitor's Question:
The other night I was talking to my girlfriend of almost 9 monthes. We started going out in the summer and at the end of the summer she went away to University. We said we would stay together and see how things went. We ended up staying together and seeing eachother about every 2 weeks, if not sooner. It became pretty serious and I completly trusted her. A couple of nights ago she told me that the first week in University she had sex with her old boyfriend who cheated on her. She has been lieing to me for 6 monthes and she told me hundreds of times that she has never cheated and she never would cheat, because when she got cheated on it was the most painful thing in the world to go through. Yet, she cheated on me with this same guy. She says she stopped having sex a few minutes in because she felt so bad, and was upset for a very long time. She said she didn't want to tell me because she was afraid of me getting hurt. She told me now, and wants to keep going out, and try and work things out because it was a mistake she made a very long time ago. I told her that i want to try and work t out and get over it because i love her alot. It is gong to be very hard to ever trust her again, if i ever do. She has always said trust is the most important thing in a relationship, yet as she was saying this she was lieing to me about not having cheated. Right now I'm very confused and have no idea what to do or what to think about her or our relationship. Please help me.

Our Suggestion:
No one is perfect. We are all allowed to make mistakes, but I wouldn't let too many mistakes go by.

It seems valid that she didn't want to hurt you and she did tell you afterall. She was away and probably lonely, etc.

If she wants to give it another try and you really care for her, go for it. Just make sure that once you decide to do that, not to bring it up. It's over, it's done with and there is no use to keeping it around.

Best wishes,
Marcc
