Visitor's Question: I'm a 17yr old male and i have a 15 yr old girlfriend. we fight alot lately and its over the dumbest stuff. we talk about marriage and kids now and its something we both really want to do. i had given her a promise ring on christmas but a week ago in one of our stupid fights i took it off her and threw it on the road. well 15 minutes we were going back out and we went to get the ring but it wasnt there. ever since that happened it dosent seem like she's the same since her ring is gone. we fight more and its not just an little arguement it gets to the point where we are screaming in eachothers face and we break up. but to get to my point, the other day i went and put a engagement ring on lay-way for her. do you think that was a good idea? i mean i want to marry her and i even taked to her mom about it. and her mom says she would want us to be married. i mean im done highschool in 30 some days and i could move totally away from here and move on with my life or i can stay here and wait for her to get done school. our plans were for me to stay here till she's done school then we were going to move to florida and she was going to go to college there. andi was going to find a job there. but do you think we are going to far ahead of ourselvs? is it a bad idea to get engaged. i just dont want to get engaged and then her change and not want to be with me. Thanks Our Suggestion: You really should NOT get engaged if you are fighting all the time. That is a recipe for disaster. Something is seriously wrong with this relationship if there is no respect in it. I would have you both go to a therapist, a minister, whoever you can find to work with you two on this. The one key most important thing you two have to do is stop fighting. If you are fighting and screaming now, it will only get worse when you are married.
