Husband Kissing my Sister

Suggest Advice

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
my husband tried to kiss my sister one night after a party. They had not seen eachother in 8 years before this night. anyway.. I confronted them after she went around telling the world. he denied it, she called him a liar. And i know he is lying. I got angry mad and i want to leave him now.

can i get past this resentment? My husband and I are raising my sister's two boys and this happened 5 years ago but i just found out. I am afraid of what I will do and it might destroy my life, marriage.

Our Suggestion:
As outrageous as this might seem, it really isn't that uncommon. You and your sister have a lot in common. I've heard from a lot of people who are at least "curious" about a sibling of a partner. Maybe your hubby was drunk and gave in to an impulse that many have, but that few ever act on. I'm not saying it's right. But I'm saying it's something to keep in mind.

I would talk to a therapist. No matter what you choose going forward, you are going to need to deal with these issues to get past them, for the sake of the kids and future family gatherings.
