Our Suggestion: It's always hard to tell how serious a long distance relationship is. In many senses it is an "easy fantasy" relationship. You console each other when you're sad, you share joys when you're happy. But it doesn't really interfere with your "real life". You don't have to talk to him when you don't want to. You can go out with your friends without him being around. You don't have to worry about your parents liking or disliking him. He doesn't complain about the clothes you wear. You don't have to deal with each other when you're grumpy. It's very easy to project fantasy ideals onto the situation that could never possibly survive in a real life relationship. It sounds like you want this relationship to be more real and he doesn't. He enjoys talking to you but doesn't really put the time and effort in to make it a solid relationship. He doesn't even write down the special days, he doesn't bother to call you and spend time with you. He apparently has other things he'd rather be doing. I would consider him a great friend that you love - but I wouldn't rely on him to be "The Boyfriend" for you. I would still go out with friends and go to activities you enjoy. If this guy is serious about you, he'll ramp up his efforts to stay in your life.
