Let's assume he just means that he wanted more hugs and snuggles. We all grow up in different styles of households where there is more or less contact. If he grew up in a snuggly household and you grew up in a non-snuggly household, that's not your fault! It is his responsibility to TELL you he wants more snuggling, and then for you two to find a compromise level. It's not like you can just know this magically without him telling you it. If his solution was just to break up with you rather than actual talk about the issue to you, then he wasn't much of a boyfriend. It would sound like he's really not ready to date yet, if even a minor issue like this causes him to give up.
